Temporary Residents

If you are ill while away from home you can be seen as a temporary resident at the surgery as long as you are staying in the catchment area.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to permanently register with that practice.

To book an appointment simply contact the surgery.

Personal details that will be required when you attend for your appointment:

Full Name - Date of Birth - Holiday address including postcode - Home address including postcode - contact telephone number, if available - the name of your registered GP at home - NHS number - Proof of Identification.

Please ask the doctor or nurse if you wish to have a print-out of the consultation to take to your own GP.

Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
